With standard PCB connectors, the female connectors are unnecessarily long on account of the materials used and their geometry. By contrast, the revolutionary picoMAX® socket technology uses the contacting force of a single stainless steel (CrNi) spring both to clamp the conductor and contact the header pin.
An extremely short contact cross-bar that "floats" toward the contacting force separates the conductor connection space from the compartment for the connecting pin. This design reduces the "overall length" of the picoMAX® female connectors, allowing a completely new generation of corresponding male connectors to be created with completely new features.
