Within a WAGO fieldbus node, inputs and outputs may be connected to a network, e.g., Ethernet or PROFIBUS, either directly or via an AS interface level. This solution enables digital inputs and outputs to be cost effectively bundled together by means of AS-Interface without having to do without special functions such as fast I/O´s or serial interfaces. The latter is realized using I/O modules that communicate directly with the coupler/controller. If AS-Interfaces are used in the WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 750 fieldbus node instead of couplers, efficient and compact control units can be designed using the AS interfaces.

All connections to the module, including the AS-interface connection, the actuator supply connection, and connections to the I/O, are made via separate WAGO MULTI CONNECTION (MCS) pluggable terminal blocks.

The AS-interface flat network cable passes through the module, making a direct network connection. The module provides a short circuit proof sensor supply.
