Locking Male Connectors Simplify Panel Feedthroughs
New, screwless male connectors simplify panel feedthrough production by installation with snap-in flanges, saving a great deal of both time and money during installation.
WAGO has expanded its “MIDI” MULTI CONNECTION SYSTEM (MCS-MIDI) to include locking male connectors with snap-in flanges. Using these male connectors, panel feedthroughs for 5–2.5mm panel wall thickness can now be quickly and easily implemented without screws. This saves the user valuable time and costs, as the recess in the panel is less complicated and does not require any drilled holes for anchors such as screws. As a result, the number of parts required for the feedthroughs is reduced, along with the logistics involved.
The male connectors with snap-in flanges are available with pin spacing of 5mm, 5.08mm, 7.5mm and 7.62mm and can accommodate conductor sizes of 0.08 to 2.5mm2, which correspond to the American dimensions AWG 28 to AWG 12. These connectors are designed for the following rated values: 12A and up to 630V for pin spacings of 5 and 5.08mm and up to 1000V for pin spacings of 7.5 and 7.62mm. Thanks to this wide application range the male connectors can be combined with all versions of the WAGO female connectors available on the market. This means that the function of an existing screw locking mechanism or of locking levers will be retained.
“With the snap-in male connectors in the ’MIDI‘ MULTI CONNECTION SYSTEM we have developed a locking connector that substantially reduces the effort and costs involved in the production of feedthrough applications using connectors. These connectors expedite preparation of the panels, as well as subsequent installation,” explains Jörn Picker, Interconnection product manager at WAGO Kontakttechnik GmbH & Co. KG.
