Fieldbus couplers connect the WAGO I/O System 750 XTR to a higher-level control system. The couplers support standard fieldbus protocols. This I/O system is fine-tuned for integration into the scalable control solutions of both the 750 XTR and the PFC200 XTR Controllers. The CODESYS V3 engineering environment is available for configuration, programming, diagnostics and visualization.

Intrinsically Safe Signal Acquisition

Thanks to its ATEX/IECEx approvals, the WAGO I/O System 750 XTR can be used both outside of hazardous areas and within Zone 2/22 inside an approved enclosure. In addition to standard signals from sensors and actuators in Zone 2/22, intrinsically safe sensors and actuators in Zones 0/20 and 1/21 can also be integrated via the blue I/O modules. This combination of intrinsic safety features with resistance to environmental extremes makes the WAGO I/O System 750 XTR invaluable for oil and gas industry systems in the upstream and downstream sectors, as well as outdoor systems exposed to extreme temperature cycling.

New PFC200 Controllers and Modules for the WAGO I/O System 750 XTR

WAGO is expanding its WAGO I/O System 750 XTR, which was engineered for demanding environmental conditions, with more powerful PFC200 Controllers and several new I/O modules. The new PFC200 technology is based on a G2 hardware and features a 1 GHz Cortex A8 CPU with 512 MB RAM and 4 GB eMMC for applications requiring high computing power or large storage space. A four-channel PWM module is also available, allowing all channels to be parameterized separately. Analog inputs for current and voltage measurements with four high-resolution channels and eight-channel low-side switching digital inputs and outputs are also new.

The WAGO I/O System 750 XTR is designed for applications subjected to environmental extremes and harsh conditions. These include the energy sector, shipbuilding, offshore facilities and railway applications. The system boasts a high number of channels on a compact footprint, which saves valuable control cabinet space. The majority of the I/O modules are only 12 mm wide and offer up to 16 channels.

With the help of special sensors, the new module for the WAGO I/O System 750 XTR allows measurement of electrical data from a 3-phase supply network in the medium-voltage range up to 20 kV.

Thus it provides a simple, general, cost-effective solution for the low- and medium-voltage ranges along with easy network analysis. The module allows measurement with voltage and current sensors that meet the IEC 60044-7/8 and IEC 61869-10/11 standards. With it, existing substations can be expanded quickly and easily without extensive modifications. For Robust Connections in Railway Applications: WAGO I/O System 750 XTR Now with M12 Connections

Temperature fluctuations, shocks and vibrations – automation technology for railway applications must be safe and reliable under the most extreme conditions. WAGO has streamlined its industry-proven WAGO I/O System 750 XTR for extreme environments – particularly railway applications. As part of this change, both the PFC200 XTR Controllers and Modbus TCP XTR/ETHERNET/IP XTR Fieldbus Couplers are now being upgraded for even higher performance. Further, especially robust M12 connectors replace the RJ45 connectors that had been standard previously.

“These connectors meet tough requirements – especially those found in the railway industry,” says Manfred Kühme, the 750 XTR I/O System product manager. M12 plugs have high mechanical strength and, when plugged in, are resistant to dirt and moisture. At the same time, they ensure safe and reliable contact for error-free data transmission. In contrast to RJ45 plugs, they are not only plugged in, but also screwed into the socket in a way that makes them vibration-proof. “That’s considered the more reliable connection type for the stiff, heavy ETHERNET cables used in railway applications,” explains Kühme.
