What does someone who is interested in training as a machine and system operator need to bring to the table?

In my training, I learned how machines and systems are set up, operated, converted, controlled and monitored. You need technical understanding and an interest in how machines are structured and how they function. In addition, you need the ability to work meticulously, to have a high level of attention and to be able to react quickly. Machine and system operators are responsible for ensuring that the machines are precisely set and function error-free. When faults occur, we have to react quickly to keep production running. If you like this type of work and have successfully completed secondary or vocational schooling, you should apply for this career.

I noticed immediately that my work as a machine and system operators and that of my coworkers was immensely important to the company. This feeling confirmed my career selection and continues to motivate me in my work.

Why did you decide to train at WAGO and choose WAGO as your employer?

I was interested in a career in industry where my technical understanding and interests were not only in demand, but also fostered. My responsibilities as a machine and system operator are important for the entire production process. I liked it immediately. I’m also from this region, I was also familiar with WAGO as a leader in electrical and automation technology and as an excellent employer. The company’s reputation and discussions with friends who work here convinced me to enroll in the training. WAGO is a company where many of my coworkers have worked for decades – even multiple generations within the same family. You notice this family atmosphere everywhere.

How did you like your training? What were the specific highlights?

I can remember the introductory week at the beginning of my training very well. We got to know the operations in Minden and Sondershausen and met the other trainees. It was a great start. After several weeks of introductory instruction at the Training Workshop, which served to acquaint us with different metal processing methods, I worked within different departments in production. I was integrated into individual teams right off the bat and was able to get started right in on what would later become my working environment. I noticed immediately that my work as a machine and system operators and that of my coworkers was immensely important to the company. This feeling confirmed my career selection and continues to motivate me in my work. My performance earned me recognition from the WAGO Foundation as one of the best trainees of my year, which was the crowning achievement of a wonderful time that I remember fondly.
