Functionality and Safety for the Control Cabinet

With the WAGO I/O System 750

Functional Safety with the WAGO I/O System 750

The WAGO I/O SYSTEM 750 is distinguished by its universal use and extensive product portfolio. With more than 500 different modules, it is versatile and flexible. WAGO also offers a wide range of products for functionally safe applications with analog and digital signals.

The functionally safe modules of the WAGO I/O System 750 require little space due to their compact design and offer a high signal density on a small footprint. Thanks to its flexible design, the system integrates different standard Ex i and PROFIsafe technologies in one setup. The color coding enables clear identification of the different technologies.

PROFIsafe

The PROFIsafe modules offer simple diagnostics and service options. The system relies on standard diagnostics according to the PROFIBUS® and PROFINET specifications. Using iPar server technology, device replacement is simple and requires no tooling. In addition, the modules can be parameterized via the WAGO Safety Editor (SEDI). They can be used in safety functions up to SIL 3 as well as PLe/Cat. 4 and fulfill the EN IEC 13849 and EN ISO 62061 safety standards. In addition, the modules can be used in safety applications for the process industry according to IEC 61511.

WAGO Safety products allow customers to implement safety applications from SIL 2 / Cat. 2 PL d to SIL 3 / Cat. 4 PL e!

Easy Configuration via “Tool Calling Interface” (TCI)

The “Tool Calling Interface” (TCI) is a standard interface of the PROFIBUS® and PROFINET user organizations. It offers the option of accessing the product’s parameterization directly from the engineering system. The TCI also allows existing communication structures of the control system to be used.

The iPar server technology allows maintenance technician to easily replace devices safety standards without special safety knowledge!

New Products

New Safety I/Os for Better Performance and Greater Speed

Digital inputs and outputs now support PROFIsafe Version 2.6.

The safe digital input and output modules for the WAGO I/O System 750 now meet version 2.6 of the PROFIsafe industrial Ethernet standard. This hardware and software optimization allows shorter safety reaction times. PROFIsafe V2.6 provides a standardized, uniform acknowledgement signal on the channel level, which now also includes the channel status of each input and output for the application in the cyclic process image. This makes it significantly easier to implement safety applications up to SIL 3 and PLe/Cat. 4.

The new digital input and output modules meet the EN IEC 13849 and EN ISO 62061 safety standards and can be used in safety applications for the process industry per IEC 61511. The modules are available in different combinations of inputs and outputs with four or eight channels and fit seamlessly into the WAGO I/O System 750. The engineering can also be handled with the usual tools.

The Benefits for You:

  • Safe channel-specific acknowledgement per PROFIsafe V2.6
  • Channel status for each input and output in the cyclic process image
  • Meets the EN IEC 13849, EN ISO 62061 and IEC 61511 standards
  • For functional safety up to SIL 3; PLe/Cat. 4.

Customer Applications

The Galvanizer – Protection against Corrosion

Zinc helps extend the life of metal products enormously. It reliably protects steel from corrosion – galvanized components don’t rust, because zinc and iron form an inseparable bond – the ferrozinc alloy. However, this method employs poisonous and potentially explosive gas atmospheres at high temperatures. Therefore, it requires a quite sophisticated process control system to guarantee safety. The task of constantly refining these systems falls to Surtec Research and their hot-dip simulators. The engineers from Falk Steuerungssysteme GmbH use the compact, highly integrated WAGO 750 I/O SYSTEM in the automation systems for the simulators.
