E-Mobility Solutions

Electric vehicle (EV) charging is becoming important in the energy and mobility transition. Intelligent distribution of charging points and load management are central challenges to increasing e-mobility for network operators, facility managers and industrial companies.

Load Management for Charging Infrastructure

Solution for Charging Point Management

Tailored but cost-effective – this is the core attribute of the WAGO Application Load Management software solution. It allows intelligent, sustainable EV charging with continuous power adjustment and utilization of all available capacity. It also boasts maximum scalability and compatibility with standard wallboxes and charging stations from many manufacturers.

One compelling feature is that a cloud connection, though possible, is not essential. Licensing is a one-time cost, and the application’s technical flexibility and technological interoperability support easy, cost-effective, sustainable integration into existing charging infrastructure. Thus WAGO Application Load Management allows renewable energy systems to incorporate additional loads and storage systems and use existing grid connections optimally.

Your Benefits:

  • Maximum compatibility and scalability

  • Optional offline operation (if needed)

  • Complete control over costs

  • Prevent peak loads

Charging in Line with § 14a EnWG

Future-Proof Solution for Charging Parks: § 14a EnWG in Practice

Since the beginning of the year, § 14a of the Energy Industry Act (EnWG) has been in effect, providing grid operators with a tool to reduce output in case of network overload threats. While the supply of household electricity remains unaffected by this regulation, the use of energy-intensive systems such as heat pumps, energy storage units, air conditioning systems or wallboxes may temporarily be limited to 4.2 kW. This throttling has a direct impact on charging park management, requiring operators to implement necessary measures.

Power Reduction Through Throttled Charging

WAGO Application Load Management allows charging parks to be managed under the conditions set by § 14a EnWG. The system adapts to available power while maintaining remote control over charging systems. This makes WAGO Application Load Management an ideal solution for managing charging points when network power is reduced under § 14a EnWG. Charging capacities can be prioritized and allocated strategically, ensuring that critical charging needs are prioritized. Through Modbus, and in the future EEBus, it allows for precise power control between 0 and 100%, with eight configurable digital inputs.

Centralized management of all charging points: WAGO Application Load Management guarantees unified and efficient control, regardless of the charging infrastructure. This allows for smooth centralized control, even in mixed charging park environments. WAGO Application Load Management is compatible with and can be managed across various manufacturers.

Direct Connection to the Grid Operator

WAGO Application Load Management facilitates a direct connection to the grid operator using a comprehensive plug-and-play solution via a customer transfer station (KÜS). This standard setup enhances communication and data exchange between charging points and the grid operator, optimizing monitoring and control for operators.

For those aiming to be independent of § 14a EnWG, integrating PV and battery storage systems offers sustainable alternatives for future charging management.

Dynamic and Static Load Management

The focus is on compatibility and interoperability with standard wallboxes and charging stations, with Modbus®-capable meters and Docker®-capable controllers. WAGO Application Load Management can be used, for example, to manage charging parks of any size or integrate a wide variety of loads and control them in a way that avoids peak loads. The new native MQTT interface supports connection to the WAGO Solutions Platform or other cloud-based platforms. The standard interface of the WAGO Application Customer Substation allows configurable connection of EEG systems for mixed parks based on the technical connection rules (TCRs) of network operators.

  • Optimal utilization of charging infrastructure
  • Dynamic control offers a higher charging point power than the available grid connection power.
  • Great openness to interfaces and brands
