PoE+ Switches: Lots of Power on the Information Superhighway

Within automation networks – especially complex ones – any cable that can be eliminated reduces wiring effort to saves space, labor and material costs. And this is precisely what WAGO's new Power-over-Ethernet switches can do for any size of network.

Power supply and data transfer via ETHERNET cable: Power-over-Ethernet (PoE+) eliminates the separate power connection for devices connected to the switches via the IP network. The advantages are obvious: Wiring is significantly faster and saves more space. Furthermore, separate power supply units are not necessary, further reducing cost. To suit a wide variety of application needs, WAGO developed three variants, with each featuring ring redundancy to ensure reliable communication – even if a line breaks.

Smart Networks for Process Control and Automation with:

  • Custom PoE+ switches with 30 W per PoE+ port

  • Robust device design for demanding locations

  • ECO variants for series machine engineering with 24 V power supply (eliminates the need for an additional 48 V power supply unit)

  • Scaled functions – including redundant power supply and alarm functions for high-availability use in process control

Secure Communication

WAGO's 5- and 8-port switches provide 1 Gbit data transfer, and do so reliably – even in an extended temperature range from −40 to +70°C. The switches also offer intelligent, energy-saving operation. Here “Efficient Ethernet” means continually adapting and optimizing performance based on the prevailing data volume. Targeting real-time Ethernet systems currently used within general automation technology, WAGO’s switches meet the requirements of PROFINET Conformance Class A (IEEE 802.1p).

At a Glance:

  • Ring redundancy guarantees reliable communication even in the event of line break.
  • Less wiring effort saves time, space and money.
  • Extended temperature range from −40 to +70°C offers the highest level of reliability, even under extreme conditions.
