Current Challenges – Future-Proof Solutions

The pressure for efficiency in the energy industry is extremely high, driven by the mobility transition, climate change and digitization.

While the technology adapts and changes, investments in grid expansion shouldn’t be risk capital.

Now in particular, the focus should therefore be on systems’ flexibility and security – so network management and network expansion can be made future-proof even in these challenging times. This also includes the many options for integrating renewable energies, whether for e-mobility or in buildings.

Here’s what awaits you at our WAGO booth:

We’ll discuss challenges and possible solutions together. The focus will be on directive-compliant feed-in per VDE-AR-N 4110, intelligent customer transfer stations and load management for charging infrastructure.

Our Solutions for the Energy Industry

Power Plant Controllers with WAGO Power Plant Control

Power plant controllers help power plants achieve grid-compatible feed-in management at the grid connection point (GCP). WAGO Power Plant Control allows plant operators and system integrators to meet the requirements for these controllers that are set on the grid side – flexibly and reliably. The solution is certified per VDE-AR-N 4110 and 4120.

Telecontrol Connection for Customer Transfer Stations

Easy connection of decentralized generation systems, storage systems and load customers: To help connect customer systems to the e.on, Westnetz, EnBW and EWE medium-voltage grids via telecontrol technology, WAGO provides downloadable communication libraries for free – according to the specific technical connection rules. Or perhaps you’d like a complete control cabinet – including software parameterization?

E-Mobility – Solutions for Load Management

Electric vehicle (EV) charging is growing in importance as part of the energy and mobility transition. Intelligent charging point distribution and load management are key challenges in expanding e-mobility for grid operators, facility managers and industrial companies. For the e-mobility charging infrastructure, WAGO offers customized solutions for connection and energy flow control.

Product Highlights

1
Grid Gateway
Grid Gateway
Better network status assessments, resource-efficient network coordination, efficient grid expansion: The WAGO Grid Gateway application helps operators of power distribution networks optimize their network operation – in an easy, secure, future-proof way!
2
PFC200 XTR for Fiber Optic Communication
PFC200 XTR for Fiber Optic Communication
Connecting fiber optic cables flexibly, even in extreme environmental conditions – the WAGO PFC200 XTR Controller makes it possible. With two SFP slots, fiber optic communication is very easy. For users who need a fiber optic network connection, this eliminates the need for an additional media converter in the control cabinet.
3
Energy Meters (MID)
Energy Meters (MID)

Optimizing energy consumption requires comprehensive energy measurement. In addition to the values for active and reactive energy, the energy meters also record the mains frequency, as well as current, voltage and power for all phases. The new energy meters are true communication professionals. All the devices have both an M-Bus and a Modbus® interface for users to select from.

4
RTU for Telecontrol Technology
RTU for Telecontrol Technology

As their platform, the WAGO RTU solutions use the modular WAGO I/O System, which has been successful on the market for years. To achieve this, these controllers, featuring scalable performance, have been expanded with special telecontrol protocols (IEC 61850, IEC 60870, DNP3 and Modbus®). In combination with the option of IEC 61131-3 programming, this allows all tasks – both telecontrol communication tasks and station automation tasks – to be handled flexibly and, above all, easily.

5
Compact Controller 100
Compact Controller 100
The WAGO Compact Controller 100 features integrated I/Os and is ideal for applications with lower performance requirements. Thanks to its design as a DIN-rail mount device, the new controller can also be mounted in small distribution boards.
6
3-Phase Power Measurement Module
3-Phase Power Measurement Module
For retrofitting medium-voltage switchgear units with measuring technology, the 3-phase power measurement module for the WAGO I/O System 750 XTR provides an easy, inexpensive option. It can be easily integrated into existing medium-voltage switchgear units, whether in a substation or a customer transfer station.

Whether energy generation, distribution or storage: Seen through the lens of the energy transition, it’s clear that the social climate has seldom been better for seizing opportunities and innovating in order to remain economical in the long term.
