ctrlX OS is a real-time-capable, Linux-based operating system designed for real-time use and can be used at all automation levels – from the field level to edge devices to the cloud. ctrlX OS supports the fusion of IT and OT applications in the sense of Industry 4.0.

It is hardware-independent and seamlessly connects even more automation components to the entire ctrlX AUTOMATION portfolio, including ctrlX World partner solutions.

The installation of ctrlX OS opens up a large world: users get access to the entire ctrlX ecosystem. There is an immense range of apps available that can be downloaded from the ctrlX Store.

As a system and technology partner of Bosch Rexroth, we promote ctrlX OS as the open platform on the market. We are convinced that openness requires bundled strengths. The goal is to jointly create a world-leading and open automation system, supported by a community that shares openness and co-creation – and thus creates dissemination and acceptance for ctrlX.

This succeeds if established market participants engage with an ecosystem together and still promote it (sector-specific) individually. Through joint further development, we want to strengthen the freedom for users and open the system to applications in other industries in addition to our focal sectors.

Obtaining quick and easy access to automation solutions or creating applications yourself – this is the principle offered by the open automation platform. With the ctrlX Store, WAGO and Bosch Rexroth have developed a “marketplace of possibilities“ that offers users the possibility of setting up an individual software system with a wide range of apps.

As a user, you have access to the entire ecosystem and can purchase any app from the ctrlX Store and install it on the ctrlX CORE.
