Future-Proof Solution for Charging Parks: § 14a EnWG in Practice

Since the beginning of the year, § 14a of the Energy Industry Act (EnWG) has been in effect, providing grid operators with a tool to reduce output in case of network overload threats. While the supply of household electricity remains unaffected by this regulation, the use of energy-intensive systems such as heat pumps, energy storage units, air conditioning systems or wallboxes may temporarily be limited to 4.2 kW. This throttling has a direct impact on charging park management, requiring operators to implement necessary measures.

Power Reduction through Throttled Charging

WAGO Application Load Management enables charging park management in compliance with Section 14a EnWG. The system dynamically adjusts to available power while maintaining remote control over charging stations, making it an ideal solution for managing charging points during grid power reductions. Charging capacities can be prioritized and strategically allocated to ensure critical charging needs are met. This is achieved through power specifications ranging from 0 to 100% via Modbus^®, eight configurable digital inputs, and future integration with EEBus.

Centralized control of all charging points: Regardless of the charging infrastructure, WAGO Application Load Management ensures uniform and efficient management. Even in mixed charging park environments, it enables seamless centralized control. WAGO Application Load Management seamlessly integrates with and controls products from various manufacturers.
