- Completely customized fieldbus-independent and scalable solutions are implemented with our comprehensive automation product range.
- Install, implement and process alarm and monitoring systems using up to 10,000 discrete measurement points.

The Future of Marine Applications
Digitalization and automation offer great opportunities for Maritime 4.0 applications. Not only are continued efficiency gains expected for commercial shipping, but also for cruise shipyards and tourism companies. Yet with increasing shipboard digitalization and networking aboard ships, the risk for cybercrime and data misuse also increases. WAGO meets the rigorous challenges of modern shipping with a full array of maritime certified solutions.
Why use WAGO?
- WAGO Controllers are designed to enable secure ship-to-land communication, data collection, control and networking of onboard subsystems.
- The PFC controller family carries all the necessary maritime certifications and approvals for use in hazardous areas.
- WAGO's modular solutions are customizable to meet the ever-changing requirements of seagoing vessels, further enabling the rapid deployment of future developments.

Tank Ballast and Cargo Management
Maintaining stability in rough seas is vital for sea-bound freighters. A reliable tank ballast system can serve as a ship's life insurance policy against incorrect trim, heel or draught. Likewise, rapid loading and unloading can be simplified with an automated cargo management system. WAGO’s automation-equipped emergency shutdown system ensures the safe continuity of essential processes when encountering extreme fault-conditions at sea.
Why use WAGO?
- WAGO products meet the rigorous demands of a wide range of marine certifications such as DNV, ABS, Lloyd's Register, BSH (near the compass) and more.
- Because they are designed to be modular and scalable, WAGO's marine products are adaptable to a wide range of applications that require customized solutions.
- As standard shipboard equipment on cruise ships, WAGO has years of experience protecting human and material resources at sea.

Propulsion Control
Trends such as slow steaming, dual fuel, exhaust gas reduction, hybrid propulsion and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as fuel describe are increasing powertrain complexity. In this light, demands for intelligent automation solutions make perfect sense. The portfolio for the intrinsically safe WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 750 can be readily adapted to automate LNG propulsion systems or to retrofit scrubber and filter systems for exhaust gas reduction.
Why use WAGO?
- Our 750 XTR Series components are specifically bolstered for use with particularly high or low ambient temperatures, extreme vibration or EMC conditions.
- WAGO power supply modules are designed for availability and reliability in the event of a fault. Secondary circuit protection occurs via remote-controlled electronic fuses.
- Energy measurement modules for propulsion systems and extensive portfolio of signal converters and signal amplifiers complete our product range.

Deck Handling and Cranes
In rough seas or in environmental protection zones, tugboats and cranes must be ready for action at any time. In the Marine Industry a competitive advantage comes to those who offer “around the clock” services consistently. Automated winches and machines on deck provide this when maneuvering at sea. Direct control and parameterization allow for automated processes at key points along the tool chain to further add to this cost-saving advantage.
Why use WAGO?
- The WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM features compact, specialty modules for the direct control of proportional valves.
- All relevant data from the drive system can be collected by the WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM 750 and in the event of a service call can be accessed remotely.
- Proportional valves may be parameterized via WAGO-I/O-CHECK,our easy-to-use commissioning software.

Demanding Cabin Automation
Even during the most challenging of times, holiday cruises have remained extremely popular, prompting a justifiable rise in onboard demands for comfort as well as safety. WAGO’s range of cost-effective, reliable interconnection solutions form the reliable electrical architecture upon which these onboard amenities can be realized. These same solutions can be adapted to meet additional needs in the realm of fire and hazard safety.
Why use WAGO?
- The WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM enables access to a wide range of HVAC and Building Automation libraries that are applicable to marine cabin automation.
- Our products are perfectly tailored to meet the requirements of onboard fire alarm systems and comply with the DNV GL and the MED Directive.
- Cabin wiring installations can be simplified, color-coded and mechanically coded using WAGO's WINSTA® or X-COM® pluggable systems.

Cybersecurity on the High Seas
With increased digitization and networking aboard ships, the risk for data abuse and cybercrime also increases exponentially. Anyone considering the possibilities of Maritime 4.0 must also consider the increased requirements for cybersecurity – and more importantly, find suitable solutions for implementing it. WAGO understands this need and provides a range of effective cybersecurity solutions.
Why use WAGO?
- WAGO establishes such VPN tunnels using OpenVPN or IPsec directly from the WAGO PFC200 Controller, for example.
- The WAGO controller additionally records relevant measurement and control data, encrypts it directly using SSL encryption and transmits the data via a VPN.
- Our Media Access Control Security switches provide an additional layer of point-to-point security with high network performance and no noticeable latency.

Application-based Controller Redundancy
WAGO’s Application-based Controller Redundancy system offers users a reliable and cost-effective system that helps increase system availability in applications such as alarm and monitoring, lighting and climate control applications. The solution is designed as an SPOF-tolerant system (Single Point of Failure), meaning that if any fault that occurs such as a loss of power, or loss of LAN connection, the system will continue to operate.
Why use WAGO?
- With WAGO's ACR system, control is transferred to a secondary controller if the master is affected by a fault.
- Smart Couplers communicate with redundant controllers using dual Ethernet cables or a Ring topology.
- Redundant power supplies and Ethernet switches may be used in parallel with the ACR to further system availability.
