Green Range, 221 Series

WAGO Splicing Connector with Levers – Green Range

Proven quality and the same reliability – but with fewer new raw materials: that's what the 221 Series Green Range stands for.

Bio-circular and recycled plastics are used in part for its production, helping to keep valuable raw materials in circulation for longer.

Conservation of resources and proven WAGO quality go hand in hand. The 221 Series Green Range offers the same technical characteristics, the same ease of use and the same reliability as the popular classic.

Your benefits:

  • Tool-free connection of solid, fine-stranded and stranded conductors – fast, easy and reliable

  • Proven quality from the inventor of spring pressure connection technology in Germany

  • Reduced consumption of fossil resources by keeping plastics in circulation

Same Connection Technology, Different Material Composition

The key difference between the 221 Series Green Range and the popular classic lies in the materials used for the housing and levers. By using a proportion of recycled and bio-circular plastics, valuable raw materials remain in circulation for longer.

Ecological Product Data at a Glance

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is available for the WAGO 221 Series Green Range. This independently verified environmental product declaration provides environmental impact data for the products throughout their entire life cycle.

Every Resource Counts

Valuable raw materials and energy are required to manufacture our products. Since many plastics are based on fossil resources, we continuously work on developing more sustainable material solutions. The Green Range is one result of this commitment.

Sustainability Has Many Levers

Our Green Range products have now been available on the market for some time and are being used in toolkits, devices and wholesale distribution. During this period, we have gained valuable insights and continued to focus intensively on sustainability topics.

  • Continuous Learning, Even After Market Launch: The Green Range is an ongoing development project for us. Bringing these products to market has raised new questions about materials, environmental impact and transparency for both us and our customers. We aim to address these questions openly and work together to find answers.

  • LCA Provides Valuable Insights: To better understand the environmental impact of the Green Range, we conducted a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). It provides insights into the potential savings in plastics and metals compared to conventional product variants. However, an LCA represents only a snapshot in time. Results depend on primary data, assessment methodologies and system boundaries and may evolve over time.

  • EPD Ensures Long-Term Transparency: The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD Type III) was developed based on the Life Cycle Assessment and is available for review at any time. An EPD Type III represents the highest level of transparency for environmental product declarations and is valid for five years. It provides transparent information about the environmental impacts of our Green Range products throughout their entire life cycle.

  • The Journey Continues: Our analyses have also shown that copper and spring steel account for a significant share of the remaining CO₂ emissions associated with these products. In particular, the recycled content used in metal production plays an important role. In addition to sustainable materials, we continuously work on reducing CO2 emissions throughout our manufacturing and operational processes. One thing is clear: we are still learning, and the journey continues.
