A Focus on Occupational Health Management

We understand that our employees’ well-being contributes significantly to creating a healthy, innovative and sustainable work environment. Our goal is to establish health as a key element of our corporate culture. Our occupational health management regularly implements both new and proven activities to promote health.

Integrated Health Promotion for Employees and Young Talent

WAGO aims to foster and protect its employees’ well-being through psychosocial support, health education and digital prevention. Since 2025, the INSITE pilot project has offered free around-the-clock counseling, which is also available for family members in the employee’s household. Around 40 % of our employees in Germany currently use the service, which will be expanded in July 2025.

The MOOVE health program is aimed specifically at trainees and dual-studies students. Two modules with workshops and an eight-week motivation period, developed together with the participants, teach practical tools for stress management, sleep hygiene, nutrition, exercise and media literacy.


The Machtfit platform provides all employees with centralized healthcare offerings – including magazines, challenges and exclusive deals – in a digital bundle. The platform kickoff featured the WAGOlympia challenge, which was very well received.

GreenCanteen

We take sustainability in our company restaurant at our headquarters in Minden very seriously. Our mission is to serve good food while also ensuring environmental protection and socially responsible action. Therefore, we promote regional organic products and environmentally friendly packaging, and we are constantly working to minimize our environmental footprint. Since August 2022, we have received the GreenCanteen* seal with “Enjoyment and Harmony.” We successfully completed the first test with an above-average result of 86 %. In 2023, we were able to improve our result to 97 %.

* GreenCanteen is a certification mark for especially sustainable, forward-looking companies.

A Global Focus on Health

Our international locations also share the goal of promoting health and well-being in the company. For example, WAGO China offers health courses and weekly stress reduction campaigns. In India, comprehensive employee health check-ups are conducted annually. WAGO Poland supports its employees with psychological support and physical therapy and organizes a wide range of activities to promote a healthy lifestyle, such as participation in recreational sports events. The Swiss location organized workshops on sleep hygiene for shift workers. The goal was not only to share information, but also to provide practical tools to better manage sleep problems and permanently improve employee health.

Safety – Vision Zero

Safety Culture with Responsibility

As an employer, we have a central responsibility for the safety of our employees. For this reason, we constantly work to refine our occupational safety management system. Our efforts focus on comprehensive prevention measures, an active safety culture and regular training. Our vision is a work environment without accidents or work-related illnesses, supported by a strong safety culture. “Vision Zero” is embedded in our corporate strategy and is actively communicated.

We have various measures to further strengthen the safety culture at WAGO. They include a coordinated set of key performance indicators (KPIs) for monitoring occupational safety across locations, as well as sharing best practices in an international working group.

Behavior-Based Safety

Our Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) strategy aims to firmly embed safety in our corporate culture. This systematic approach promotes safe behavior in the workplace through observation, feedback and positive reinforcement and reduces unsafe behavior. We actively involve employees in our occupational safety culture, in particular by encouraging them to report close calls that could have led to accidents.
In the future, the Safety Guidelines are intended to establish a uniform, company-wide approach in the form of an integrated occupational safety management system.
Despite this goal, the positive trend of previous years suffered a reversal: Between 2023 and 2024, our Lost Work Day Rate (LWDR) – meaning days lost due to work-related accidents as a percentage of the hours worked at our production sites – increased by 7 %.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Diversity Is Strength

We see the diversity of our employees as a strength. Since 2017, we have been a signatory of the Diversity Charter and have further developed our diversity management internationally. By adopting a concrete “Health and Well-Being” action plan that takes diversity issues into account, we aim to focus our commitment even more sharply in the future and continue to advance it internationally.
Respect, mutual appreciation and non-discriminatory cooperation are key principles at WAGO. Through working groups and interest groups, we promote open dialog and specifically advocate for the interests of employees with disabilities. Conflict resolution teams are available at the Minden and Sondershausen locations to assist in cases of harassment or discrimination. Their work is confidential; they are empowered to involve external experts when necessary and can initiate steps up to and including termination in individual cases. In addition, they are responsible for implementing preventive measures. The Works Council, the Inclusion Officer, the AGG representative,* the management and the Human Resources department can serve as additional contact points for incidents of discrimination or harassment. Depending on the employee’s status, the representative body for youth and trainees or the representative body for severely disabled employees can also be involved.

A Focus on Advancement of Women

women@wago is our international women’s network, which offers our female employees around the world the opportunity to network and exchange ideas across different locations and departments. Networking events and offerings focusing on further professional and personal development are held several times a year. The network is open to anyone who identifies with its values and goals, regardless of their function or position. In 2024, women@wago celebrated its tenth anniversary. Through formats like the Digital World Tour, workshops and incentives, it actively promotes global communication and visibility of women in senior management, expert and project management roles. women@wago is guided by the UN Women Empowerment Principles and cooperates with the SheDoesFuture initiative.
