Energy Data Acquisition: The Right Solution for Every Step

Precise energy measurement allows energy consumption optimization. WAGO offers a range of options for this purpose, such as the 879 Series Energy Meters. These are MID-compliant, so they are also suitable for billing-relevant applications. The energy meters are equipped with Push-in CAGE CLAMP® with lever. Their compact design – 72 mm wide for direct measurement and only 36 mm in the version for current transformers – even saves space in control cabinets. Besides the current and energy measurement products, plug-in current transformers for billing purposes are also available. They can be combined with the WAGO MID energy meter to form a complete solution.

Once they have been captured, the current, voltage and power may need to be converted or filtered for a higher-level controller. With current, voltage or power measurement modules from WAGO, this data can be transferred as a standardized signal or via bus communication.

Power measurement modules measure current and voltage in parallel and then output them as an analog signal, converted into power. As a 3-phase power measurement module, it measures the relevant data, such as voltage, current, power and harmonics. Current transformers or Rogowski coils allow flexible measurement. Besides a slot for microSD cards, the 3-phase power measurement module also has a Modbus® communication interface (RS-485). The energy consumption can be monitored continuously. There are also switchable filter functions.

WAGO Energy Data Management handles the processing of measured variables. It consists of Web-based software combined with a modular control system. The processed data is used for energy monitoring and further analysis, archiving and reporting.

A cloud approach is a good choice for monitoring the data you capture and process. You are free to choose WAGO Cloud or use a different cloud system. After just a few steps, you’ll have an overview of all the relevant information, regardless of your location, allowing you to identify potential for optimization and initiate modifications directly.

The Energy Data IoT Box provides all the necessary components in one box: signal acquisition plus power and energy measurement, IT/IoT communication protocols and parameterizable application software with up to 40 inputs and 40 outputs allow detailed acquisition of energy trends and energy consumption data.

No IT expertise is required in order to connect these directly to a cloud platform. Connecting existing systems and machines only requires a few technical adjustments or modifications.
