In your new position, you are involved with one of the central topics of the future – digitalization. How has WAGO positioned itself, and what is especially important to you?

With our vision, “WAGO is the backbone of a smart, connected world”, we are drawing a clear connection in how we will present ourselves to the world in the future. WAGO empowers its customers, acting as a strong partner to configure the smart, connected world. Digitalization supports this development through new technologies, like artificial intelligence or augmented reality. We can also observe changes in customer behavior. I often catch myself doing the same thing, in that I expect to immediately receive product information, available online, without a great deal of effort. Therefore, we thought about how we could simplify access to information for our customers. You can see the results for yourself in our new web site. In addition, visitors to our booth at trade shows can immerse themselves in digital worlds using tablets, and obtain information about our products and numerous solutions. From my point of view, in order to achieve a successful digital transformation, you have to have previously selected one comprehensive approach: from our products through processes up to a collaboration of partners between our customers and associates. In particular, the utility should be foregrounded for our customers and the company. To engage in digitalization, only because it is technically feasible, is not useful, in my opinion.

You are responsible for central factors in WAGO’s success with the corporate and digitalization strategies. How were you supported? How did you qualify for this?

In my position, I interact with all areas of the company. So, it is important for me to network with others and seek out and exchange information. In women@wago, we have a women’s network, with more than 50 members, where female employees and supervisors can exchange ideas and support one another. I found the initiative to be so convincing that I took on the management position this past year. In addition, WAGO offers suitable opportunities for continuing education, which prepared me well for my responsibilities. This allowed me to certify as a “Project Management Professional” while working on the “Corporate Strategy” project, and in the cross-mentoring OWL, I found an experienced mentor who both provides support and advice as a business coach. I am currently participating in the “WAGO Junior Leadership Program” in order to qualify to take on management responsibilities. The company offers a development program that systematically prepares me for future tasks.

From the beginning, I have experienced a lot of support at WAGO, both internal and external.

What do you value at WAGO?

The thing that fascinated me from the start at WAGO is the passion that our colleagues bring to their work, their products, and their business. I collaborate with really neat interdisciplinary teams, and we are granted a lot of creative space, which in turn helps during the digital transformation. With 7,500 associates worldwide, WAGO is a global corporation, but it has always maintained the character of a family company, which I truly value. This is noticeable, especially as responsibility is acknowledged and accepted, whether it is for the region or the environment, and particularly for the employees. There is a comprehensive program, “WAGO Plus,” which supports all life stages: with children, dependents who need care, health, and a lot more.
